Doing Good Together

About Resource Collective

From Katikati and across the Bay of Plenty, we’re building a connected, capable community, one item, one person, one story at a time.

The Resource Collective is more than a recycling centre. We are a vibrant, people-powered movement for change. The heart of our mission is to blend environmental responsibility with community care by giving discarded, unwanted items a second life and offering people a renewed sense of purpose.

By following the principles of the circular economy, we recover, repair, and repurpose while creating pathways to employment, especially for people with disabilities.

Our inclusive model transforms everyday actions such as donating, shopping, or volunteering into social and environmental good opportunities. Backed by passionate partners like Chrome Collective Charitable Trust and Cultivate Culture Ltd., we’re proving that sustainability and equity go hand in hand.

the people behind the resource collective

A story of collective strength

The Resource Collective is born from the shared vision of Chrome Collective and Cultivate Culture Ltd.. It is a one-of-a-kind project deeply rooted in the community with a belief that environmental action and social inclusion are not only interdependent but even more powerful when combined.

The Chrome Crew & community

Chrome Crew, a determined group of supported workers who learn, grow and contribute to various roles, is central to our daily operations. Their presence brings joy and adds meaning to everything we do, from electronics dismantling to retail assistance.

A hub for change

The Katikati site is the base for our resource recovery mission. It is a place that focuses on taking apart, upscaling, repairing, and selling. We mesh hands-on environmental work with skills development, all while building community bonds and reducing waste.

Focused on non-profit community work

Our work is grounded in purpose over profit. We operate as a social enterprise that reinvests earnings into training, inclusion, and environmental impact. Through strong partnerships, supported employment, and hands-on vocational training, we create real opportunities for people with disabilities while promoting sustainability.
