Building/Renovation

Donate surplus building goods & support local skills

At the Resource Collective, we’re giving leftover building materials a second chance to do good, diverting them from landfills and using them to fuel social and environmental change.

Your surplus tiles, timber, bricks, and even partial paint tins can help us build an inclusive future by supporting training and employment opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.

Whether you’re wrapping up a DIY job or clearing out after a significant renovation, we welcome clean, reusable building materials in good condition. Our team carefully assesses each donation to ensure it can be resold or passed on to community partners.

Not sure if we can take it? Just give us a call or send us a few photos, and we’ll be happy to help.

Yes, but condition matters. Items need to be clean, complete, and usable. It’s always a good idea to send us photos ahead of time so we can confirm if we can accept them.

Secure and tidy is best! Stack or bundle where possible, and ensure items are safe to unload. And please don’t start unloading until a staff member is there to help, we want to ensure everything is suitable before it hits our shelves.

We sell what we can through our shop to support the centre and our disability employment programme. If we can’t sell something, we often pass it on to local op shops or community groups like Sustainable Options and Under the Stars. Unsellable items go to the transfer station.

We don’t have strict limits, but some items may be too big or bulky to manage on certain days. Please call ahead if you’re bringing in large or heavy materials so we can make sure we’re ready for you.
