Resource Collective
Disability And Work
What We Do
At The Resource Collective, we believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to work, socialise, and thrive as an equal part of their community. Our kaupapa is grounded in the belief that everyone has the right to contribute, to be seen, and to be heard.
We exist to immerse people with disabilities into the wider community, breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for meaningful participation, employment, and self-expression. We proudly welcome people from across the Bay of Plenty, fostering connection and inclusion throughout our region.
Our Vision
Enriching the lives of people with disabilities – immersed into their local community.
Based in the Bay of Plenty, The Resource Collective empowers individuals with intellectual disabilities through vocational training, employment pathways, and social enterprise. Each year, we support up to 15 participants to gain practical skills for meaningful employment, while creating 10 volunteer opportunities that promote inclusion and celebrate the value of people with disabilities in our communities.
How We Make a Difference
Vocational Training & Employment
We provide hands-on training and supported employment opportunities through our social enterprise. These experiences help participants build confidence, skills, and independence—leading to real, sustainable work opportunities within their local communities.
Accessibility & Inclusion
Accessibility is essential to true inclusion. Our programs remove barriers to participation by supporting transport costs and providing assistance that enables people to access training, employment, and community activities throughout the Bay of Plenty.
Community & Connection
Our welcoming spaces offer a safe environment for people to gather, learn, and connect. These hubs are at the heart of what we do—places where individuals with disabilities are supported to belong, grow, and thrive.
Empowerment & Self-Advocacy
We empower participants to take an active role in shaping their own futures. Through advocacy, mentorship, and personal development, we help individuals find their voice, set goals, and influence the direction of both their lives and our organisation.
Our Impact
Every job created, and every connection made through The Resource Collective helps build a more inclusive Bay of Plenty—one where diversity is valued and inclusion is the norm, not the exception.
By supporting people with disabilities to develop skills, gain employment, and participate fully in their communities, we’re creating lasting change: a society where everyone is empowered to lead a meaningful, connected life.
