Greenwaste

Greenwaste reuse

We’re passionate about giving plants a second chance to thrive. If you’ve got potted plants, seedlings, or garden greenery with roots, we’ll gladly take them off your hands.

Whether you’re tidying up your home garden or clearing out your nursery’s excess stock, we accept most rooted plants and seeds. Once received, our team carefully repots and resells them through our community store, helping reduce waste and extend the life of your greenery. It’s a great way to be kind to the environment while supporting local reuse efforts.

We primarily cater to domestic drop-offs, but nurseries and landscaping businesses are welcome to bring in healthy, rooted plants and seedlings. While we don’t mulch or compost greenwaste onsite, the council-operated green waste disposal service is conveniently located nearby for all other green material.

If you’re dropping off non-plant waste, including bagged greenwaste, fees apply based on volume, from $5 for small loads to $15 for larger bags. Please check the Western Bay of Plenty District Council’s website for full pricing details, especially for loose or bulk loads.

Remember that we can only accept plants with roots, no weeds, invasive species, or loose soil to ensure your drop-off goes smoothly. Plastic pots are welcome if recyclable or reusable, and large pots in good condition may even be resold. Whether you’re a green-fingered local or a small business doing a seasonal cleanout, Resource Collective offers a practical and eco-conscious way to keep useful greenwaste out of landfills.
