Our Services

Whiteware

Give your whiteware a second life

At the Resource Collective, we see value where others see waste. By donating clean, working whiteware, you’re not only reducing landfills but directly supporting inclusive employment and sustainability efforts in our Bay of Plenty community.

Items like fridges, freezers, freestanding ovens, dryers, microwaves, and air fryers can be given a second life through our retail hub, where proceeds fund job training and meaningful work opportunities for people with intellectual disabilities.

All donated appliances are carefully tested for safety and function. They’re marked for resale once they pass our in-house checks and a certified Test-and-Tag inspection.

We cannot accept broken, rusted, mouldy, or incomplete items, as we aim to ensure every piece is safe, functional, and fit for purpose. Some items, such as fridges and freezers, may incur a small drop-off fee to help us cover legal requirements and handling.

Need help with transport? We offer a free local collection service. Just send us a photo first so we can confirm if the item is suitable and prepare the right trailer. Remember, donating good-quality whiteware is an easy way to support circular solutions and strengthen your local community.

Whiteware donation FAQ

We accept most major household appliances, including fridges, freezers, freestanding ovens, dryers, microwaves, and air fryers, as long as they meet our condition standards.

Yes, all whiteware must be working, clean, and free from rust or mould. We cannot accept anything that’s broken or unsafe to use.

Sorry, no. Rusty appliances can’t be refurbished or accepted, even if they still turn on.

There are fees on certain whiteware, which you can find in the drop-off charges/price list.

Absolutely! As long as they are clean, rust-free, and in good working order, we’re happy to accept them.

Yes. All donated appliances are tested, and we also have a qualified technician who does official Test-and-Tag checks. If the item passes, it receives a red tag to show it’s safe and ready for resale.

If the appliance doesn’t meet our standards or fails testing, it’s responsibly disposed of. Unfortunately, broken or untaggable units must be sent to the dump.

Yes, we provide a free collection service. Just send us a photo of your item so we can confirm it’s acceptable and plan for the right trailer size.

If it’s working, we can resell the item. But if it’s broken, we are legally responsible for de-gassing the item. This is an extra cost that we are unable to provide. Therefore, those customers and items are sent to the dump.
